This crispy bloomin onion recipe for air fryer is a healthier spin on the steakhouse favorite. Made with simple ingredients and no deep frying, it’s the perfect appetizer for any occasion.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 large sweet onion (e.g., Vidalia)

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour

  • 2 tsp paprika

  • 1 tsp cayenne

  • 1 tsp cumin

  • 1 tsp dried oregano

  • 1 tsp dried thyme

  • Salt & pepper

  • 2 eggs

  • 1/4 cup milk

  • 1 tbsp water

  • Oil spray (non-aerosol)


Instructions

  • Trim and cut onion into 16-petal bloom.

  • Rest for 5 min, gently open petals.

  • Coat with seasoned flour.

  • Dip in egg mixture, re-coat with flour.

  • Chill. Preheat air fryer to 350°F.

  • Lower into basket using foil. Spray with oil.

  • Cook for 25 min, spraying mid-cook.

  • Serve with dipping sauce.
