Description
Juicy, tender BBQ meatballs simmered in rich, sticky sauce. Perfect for dinner, parties, or game day!
Ingredients
-
1 lb ground beef (or 50/50 beef and pork)
-
½ cup breadcrumbs (panko or soft)
-
1 large egg
-
¼ cup milk
-
1 tsp garlic powder
-
1 tsp onion powder
-
Salt and black pepper to taste
- 2 tbsp olive oil
-
¾ cup barbecue sauce (plus more for glazing)
Instructions
1. Make the Meatball Mixture
In a mixing bowl, combine the ground meat, breadcrumbs, egg, milk, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix with your hands until just combined.
2. Form the Meatballs
Shape the mixture into equal-sized balls, about the size of a walnut or golf ball. You should get 16–18 meatballs.
3. Brown the Meatballs
Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Sear the meatballs on all sides until golden brown but not fully cooked through.
4. Simmer in BBQ Sauce
Reduce the heat to low. Add barbecue sauce and cover the skillet. Simmer the meatballs for 10–15 minutes, until fully cooked and the sauce thickens.
5. Serve Hot
Transfer the meatballs to a serving dish. Glaze with extra sauce if desired and garnish with fresh herbs or shredded cheese.
Notes
Don’t overmix the meat or the texture will be tough.
Add moisture if using dry breadcrumbs milk helps keep the mix soft.
Want bolder flavor? Mix BBQ rub into the meat.
For parties, serve with toothpicks and a sprinkle of parsley.
To thicken the sauce, simmer uncovered or stir in a cornstarch slurry.
