Description
A bold, smoky BBQ chicken rub made from pantry spices like brown sugar, smoked paprika, and garlic powder. Perfect for grilling, baking, or air frying chicken with delicious flavor and a caramelized crust.
Ingredients
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1 tablespoon smoked paprika
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon chili powder
1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
1 teaspoon black pepper
1½ teaspoons kosher salt
1/2 teaspoon mustard powder
Instructions
In a small bowl, mix all the dry spices until evenly combined.
Rub the mixture directly onto the chicken, covering all sides.
Let the chicken rest for at least 30 minutes in the fridge, or up to 24 hours for deeper flavor.
Cook the chicken by grilling, baking, or air frying until done and the rub has caramelized.
Notes
Store extra rub in an airtight container for up to 6 months.
Works great on chicken thighs, wings, and drumsticks.
Try pairing it with grilled veggies or BBQ pasta salad for a complete meal.
